Geographical and historical dates:
Cadastral unit Olovnice is situated in very west part of region Mělník in elevation 193 m above sea-level. The Knovíz stream (Svatojiřský stream) runs through the middle of village. Near its bank, on the village sguare, stand the most valuable historical relique – the first monument of Josef Jungmann in Bohemia, which was made by native František Kdýr in 1784 year. The monument is made from local sand-stone. Just next to this monument is situated Monument Victims of I. and II. War built after the Second World War in memory to honour died fellow-citizen.
The most historical sources of information about origin of village are in the earth’s books. The first written mention is from 1285. There was most probably farmyard and citadel of Maltese knights. In year 1318 was named “Zbraslav de Olouicze”. Village was belongings of convent Mother of st. Jan Jeruzalemsky.
In the year 1436
was village written to Vaclav Carda from Petrovice by Emperor Zikmund. In the
second part of 15. century is Olovnice belongings of Jošt from Rožmberk,
pontiff Vratislavsky and convent of Prague. The next owner was Zikmund Barse
from Kamenice. In 1541was village in carriage of Jindrich Zejdlic and his son
Jiri. From year 1576 was owner Hertvik Zejdic.
Emblem of Zejdlics – stone tablet from red sand-stone with three carps – is situated on the mill with era 1561. The building of mill is the oldest buliding in the village.
Probably by
conscript of czech aristocracy´s wealth fell Olovnice to Bořens from Lhota and
then to Míkovecs.
Year of grace
1628 is vilage written as “Olowicze czela”. Year of grace 1669 is
“Wolowicze” sold to Julius František Prince of Saský. After his death had
his daughter Marie Anna Františka secceed to an estate this property, she was
the archducess of Toskánská, her heritor had become Habsburg-Lothringen clan.

In 15.th century
was name of village from Olovice to Volovice. From the year 1669 was used name
Volovice and since 1785 Wolowitz.

Year of grace
1924 was name changed to Olovnice and this name was certified through official
channels in 21. 3. 1925.
There were three
activities connected with the history of village, memory to them has been losing
from sence of inhabitants. The first is from medieval times, when grape-vineculture
had extended to Bohemia due to Charles IV. Grape-vine had been
growned on the hillsides of Olovnice. The big epidemy had destroyed this culture.
The last reminder to grape-vine culture is Vinehouse in the middle of village,
which is today the Seat of Municipal office, Post office and shop.
The socond lost
activie was mining work in Olovnice. Only few realize that there were two drift
mines in land register of Olovnice – Eufrosie and Fastus. They were closed
from the reason of low quality of theirs coal.
The third
activity was brewering and flour-milling industry. The Olovnice Brewery
(1640-1950) counted to small brewery but its beer was very tasty.

The flour-mill was also wide-known, especially during the Second World War mill had saved many people from wide surround. It remains the desk on the Mill above the entrance to to mill till today.
